Managing Director of Merrill Lynch; Member of the Board of Public Allies
Kanwar Singh presently acts as Managing Director of Merrill Lynch. Previously, Kanwar co-headed the UBS Chicago Wealth Management Group, a team that develops and implements advanced wealth plans and strategies for a select clientele. Prior to UBS, Kanwar was Partner at Baker & McKenzie, a prominent international law firm and an attorney at Kirkland & Ellis. In business, Kanwar has held senior and executive positions at Valence Capital Group, a boutique investment management and private equity firm, Monsanto Company, and Brightsage, Inc., a technology firm. Kanwar earned his B.A. from Northwestern University and his J.D. (cum laude) from the Boston University School of Law, where he served as a senior editor of the Law Review.
More importantly, since the age of 5, Kanwar has been fully exposed to principles of mindfulness, meditation and yoga by his family and spiritual tradition and continues to be an avid practitioner of the same. Kanwar is also very active in public service, including participation in the ABA Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity and serves as a Member of the Board of Public Allies, a national not-for-profit entity focused on providing leadership and training opportunities to underserved youth, and the Northwestern Memorial Center for Integrative Medicine & Wellness. Kanwar presently lives in the Chicago area with his wife Avanti and two daughters
