Chicago Children’s Choir’s school program participants unite with the neighborhood choirs and Voice of Chicago for a dynamic educational program celebrating the vast and vivacious culture of the African Diaspora, featuring music from Nigeria, Peru, Jamaica, and the United States. This cornerstone tradition, curated by resident Africana Studies Director Lonnie Norwood, returns this year to salute Africana music and its indelible impact on Chicago and the world.

Black History Month Concert Series is sponsored by Jackson Legacy Foundation and Jamie & Brian Vandenberg.

Black History Month Virtual Performance

Black history music has been a core part of the CCC curriculum since its inception. For over 30 years, the choir has hosted the Black History Month Concert Series, which now brings together over 4,000 singers at Symphony Center over three days.
